Whenever I think of national security, I think of wire tapping, the CIA and other sorts of high-tech spy games. One of the great things about this country is that the American public doesn't have to "see" national security in order for it to be there. Authorities can dig up any type of information about anyone of us they want in a split second.
I stumbled across this little bit of what I can only imagine is the latests and greatest photo capturing technology out there. Click on the link below to see for youself to see what was going on at last months Presidential Inauguration. The image below the link is where you start off. Once you click the link, use the navigation buttons on the upper right corner of the page to move around.

Now if technology like this is public, think about what isn't.

......... if I was allowed to vote in this country.
You might have seen this news article posted by PVR about the new Silverlight presidential candidates site we developed http://candidates.352media.com/. It is fantastic, I love it and so did other people I showed it too. It makes it so easy to decide who you want to vote for without having to do too much work, and having the ability to put a face to the name is amazing.
I was watching the news and I seen an advert for this http://wnyw.4wmt.com/cmm/
My Fox's attempt at creating a candidate matchmaker. You answer 20 questions to find your closest political match, no matter what I do with either site I keep getting Hilary as my number 1.
The design on the My Fox Version is very poor compared to ours, actually everything on this one is very poor compared to ours (although my iMac liked the HTML version better than Silverlight) However My Fox offer you the ability to get a Bobble Head version of your favorite candidate which is fantastic.
Why didnt we think of that

I usually try to avoid political discussions because they only seem to drum up petty fights that no one is going to win. However I think everyone can agree that Steven Colbert running for President is raising a few eyebrows on both sides. The catch is, he might have a chance, and the even bigger catch is the government is worried.
It seems that the FEC among others are concerned Colbert is going to have an impact on the elections. *what a shock!* The guy is a media genius. He targets his demographics with precision and I wouldn't be surprised if he got a good chunk of votes in South Carolina (the only state he is running). As ABC is reporting, the FEC is looking into the sponsorship of Comedy Central (his network) and Doritos (his corporate sponsor) to see if he is violating federal law.
The whole thing is great because at the end of the day he is still making a mockery of an already messed up system. If you want to read more about his run for president, read the links below.

Colbert's Campaign Site (I think we could help him there)

Peter, our VP of Marketing, recently posted about a Web site that measures the "buzz" surrounding each Presidential candidate based on factors such as blog postings about that candidate.
Today I found this little tool which provides a summary of the positions that each candidate takes on a variety of issues:
http://www.2decide.com/table.htm?AGAINU
The table is overly simplistic (summarizing a candidate's views into a simple checkmark or X leaves little room for explanation), but it still provides a nice overview nonetheless.
We'll see how well the table is maintained when candidates start flip-flopping their views when election time nears.

My mother always said that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. I guess politicians don't have mothers.
For decades we've seen negative campaign ads on TV and in papers. But now they've crossed the line. They're invading the sanctity of the Internet; the one pure place left on the planet (I have a childlock on my browser, so as far as I know, the Internet is full of only happy thoughts).
Mitt Romney, the only candidate for president named after a sporting good, is denying involvement in a site that attacked newcomer Fred Thompson as being a "phoney conservative." Hasn't Mitt ever seen Law and Order? Thompson (aka Arthur Branch) is always pushing for the death penalty. That's clearly not acting. I mean, c'mon, the man was in Aces: Iron Eagle Three. That's technically more combat experience than the current president. He played Big John, the head of Nascar, in Days of Thunder. He was an Admiral in the Hunt for Red October. C'mon now...his resume of characters reads like a Republican donor list.
Anyhow, Mitt had nothing to do with it. Sure, the site was traced back to one of his hired consultants from South Carolina, but an employer isn't responsible for the actions of his employees. Oh wait, he is. Dang.
Ok, so I know the Internet is not pure...its a cesspool of porn, Nigerian banker scams, and videos of bums fighting each other, but please don't allow the worst type of media on there: the political attack ad.

Just let it be noted that I called dibs on Antarctica. Therefore, it's now mine. I believe I shall rename it Petearctica. Just rolls off the tongue, don't it?
Now that I have what I want, I'll let you know what I'm talking about. You see, Russia called shotgun on the North Pole. So apparently that's all it takes these days. No longer will the frozen (yet melting) tundra be an escape for all of us. No, it is now in the icy clutches of the Russians (terrible pun intended). Apparently there's some oil up there. Just what we need.
And just to make it official, they're currently traveling in subs to the sea floor to plant a flag. I'm not kidding. That's why I'm on the next flight to Antarctica, to plant my flag. What, no direct flights to the entire continent? How the heck did the "March of the Penguins" people get there?! Apparently a boat from Cape Horn.
Actually, after further consideration, I'm going with this island. Not only does it have a nice horseshoe shaped cove for calm seas and sunning myself during the 24 hours of daylight, but it's right in Russia's backyard. That'll really p**s them off, but hey...I called it.
