Angry Birds: arguably one of the best games to hit cellphones since Nokia introduced Snake in 1998. In fact, Rovio CEO Mikael Hed just announced that Angry Birds has been
downloaded more than 42 million times; this coming on the heels of the game being parlayed out to Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3. But no matter how addicting and how much you argue it could (or has), Angry Birds isn't going to change the world.
Raise the Village, on the other hand, just might. Our good friends over at New Charity Era developed the iPhone app, now available for free in the
iTunes Store, that allows users to build their own virtual village while simultaneously donating the supplies you purchased for your village to one in Uganda. (In an effort for full disclosure, we didn't develop the game, but we did create the

So go ahead kill all the pigs you want, although we can't confirm that no actual pigs were harmed in making of that game. We can, however, confirm that the food, clothing, tarps and first aid kit purchased in the Raise the Village app will actually go to the Kapir Atiira Village in Uganda
