Remember way back when (in 2010) when Arcade Fire hit the streets, literally, with their interactive music video, The Wilderness Downtown? It was a pretty intuitive way to leverage the power of HTML5 with the robustness of Google Maps and Google Street View to bring your home town into the actual video. Some said it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be, while others raved that it was taking music videos, which are on the cusp of being killed by MP3s, to a new level. Either way, you've got to give the band and the team that put it together a hat tip for making it happen.

Well, PacMan is channeling it's inner Arcade Fire in its newest attempt to reinvent itself for the gaming industry with some new web application development. PacMap is a new android app that lets users play the iconic game in their own city streets. It syncs up to your phone's GPS and populates your location with dots to eat and ghosts to avoid. It's still in Alpha, so there's likely some bugs and tweaks to be worked out, so I'd wait on the download, but check out the video below for a preview.

Seriously, PacMan, as if we needed another excuse to avoid doing actual work after Google's playable PacMan home page and Angry Birds announcing it's now available for Windows devices. I still think the original PacMan is always going to trump any new version of itself, but you've got to give them credit for keeping the buzz alive after 30-plus years.
