The ballots have been collected, the votes have been counted, the hanging chads hung, and the interns are, well, tired. And the final numbers are in...



When we hit 5,000 fans on our facebook page this afternoon, the group with the most votes was the University of Florida Dance Marathon with 1294 votes! They are the proud recipients of a $1,000 donation. And just to make it a little more interesting, we're going to go through the votes and give the donation on behalf of the fraternity or sorority that was responsible for the most of those votes.

Dance Marathon at the University of Florida is an annual 26.2-hour event benefiting the patients of Shands Children's Hospital at the University of Florida. Each year, more than 700 students stay awake and on their feet to raise money and awareness for Children's Miracle Network at Shands Children's Hospital at UF. Standing for so many hours symbolizes both the physical and emotions challenges the patients at Shands Children's Hospital at UF experience every day.

The money we raise helps fund essential research, equipment and education for the patients, including (but not limited to) diversionary activities and items, hospital beds, and cribs.

In the 16 years Dance Marathon has been at UF, more than $3.8 million has been donated making us the largest and most successful student-run philanthropy in the Southeastern United States. In 2010 alone, we raised more than $517,000 for the kids!

While this is a great organization, it is just one of the over 60 non-profits that participated in the voting. And we really wanted to recognize the second place group, Mixed & Happy. While they couldn't overcome the force that is the UF student body, they did manage an impressive 874 votes! To recognize this feat, and since we know they are interested in a website, we would like to offer them $1,000 off of our Core Web Solutions website package. I'll get with Suzy on the details.
