NFJS Software Convention
Marketed as “The Best Technically Focused Java/Agility/Open Course Event Series Anywhere,” the No Fluff Just Stuff symposium conventions promise to cover the latest trends, best practices, and newest developments in Java software application development. Throughout each presentation, the convention offers an intense look at the technical aspects of Java, XML, J2EE, and Open Source.
The NFJS Symposiums began in 2001 in Denver. Founder, Jay Zimmerman, came up with the idea after hearing clients discuss the need for more technical education. No high quality Java conferences existed in the surrounding area, leaving Web developers at a disadvantage. After researching different types of symposiums and finding which strategies worked best, Zimmerman came up with a format he believed would make the NFJS conference successful and help Web designers enhance their craft.
Most symposiums are held over a long weekend to ensure entire software development teams and independent contractors can easily attend without losing any billable hours. The weekend setting also attracts the best technical speakers to attend as consultants. Attendance is capped at 200 to allow for a higher level of interaction between the attendees and the speakers. The speakers also attend other sessions and each lunch with the attendees to further enhance the interaction.
Now that the NFJS Symposium has established itself as an Atlanta Web development event, the company has committed itself to create a consistent presence and host a convention there annually. Last year’s inaugural conference welcomed over a dozen speakers, who conducted more than 50 technical sessions about Atlanta Web development and its improvements.
Registration for the Atlanta NFJS Conference takes place six to eight weeks before the symposium weekend. For more information on 2007’s event, visit
