As the nation’s largest educational association, the Association for Career and Technical Education dedicates itself to the advancement of education that prepares students for successful careers. The organization itself has more than 28,000 staff members including educators, administrators, and guidance counselors. The entire staff constantly works together to help improve the job performance of its members. By increasing the public’s awareness and appreciation for technical programs, the ACTE also enhances each member’s job satisfaction.
As the only professional development event dedicated entirely to career and technical fields, the Career Tech Expo held in Atlanta this year maintained the organization’s core values: advocacy, diversity, lifelong learning, collaboration, accountability, and service. More than 5,000 career educators attended, participating in their choice of workshops, seminars, and sessions that range through a variety of topics.
The ACTE’s Career Center is also a great place for students and their parents to explore different career possibilities. On their site, getcareerskills.com, the ATCE partnered up with some of its corporate sponsors – such as Atlanta Web development companies - to provide examples and information for students looking to enter such fields as automotive technology, construction, health, and hospitality. Atlanta Web developers can also find information on the site about local Web design companies who are hiring. The organization’s job bank also offers employers space to post open positions and gives job seekers an opportunity to upload their resumé.
